My practice emerges through collective processes that continually redefine themselves under various constellations. Together with groups of different ages, I explore methods that enable us to negotiate how socially just spaces can be created. In doing so, I navigate between institutional spaces and self-organized structures, always striving to maintain a power-critical and self-reflective perspective.
I believe that universities and institutions are important spaces that can enable change. However, knowledge and lasting transformation ultimately arise within communities, in self-organization, on the streets, in neighborhoods, among friends, and in everyday situations where often very pragmatic problems unfold. The experiences and lessons that shape my work and who I am, I owe to the people around me and the communities in which I move and organize.
Ana Bisbicus studied architecture at the Berlin University of Arts and the Glasgow School of Art. They live and work between Berlin and Cali, Colombia. In their work, Ana operates at the intersection of artistic research and education, as well as the curation and design of spaces. Together with Sarah Hachem, they founded habi practice حبي in 2024. Together, they develop anti-racist and anti-colonialist educational formats for spatial planning. From 2019 to 2024, they were part of the fem_arc collective in Berlin. Starting in December 2024, Ana will join the Chair of Architecture, Cities and Economies at the University of Kassel as a research associate.
