Although she was one of the pioneers of Sri Lankan modernism, many of her buildings have been severely damaged or partly demolished. With this illlustration I intended to acknowledge her work and that of many women of color in the context of architecture.

This drawing is a collage of elements that were always present in De Silva‘s work such as the courtyard, the pilotis and the embedding of local craftwomanship.
